When art meets real estate

Art does not only belong in galleries. Valuable works can also find their place in residential projects, whether as stylish accessories and good investments or as showpieces. The Art&Brick Project arose in cooperation between Pražská správa nemovitostí and the gallery Art Salon S. Its goal is to connect two apparently different worlds, housing and art, in part in the form of special exhibits.

Art&Brick is a series of single-day exhibits in non-traditional spaces in Pražská správa nemovitostí’s selected residences. The first pop-up exhibit took place last year on 25 September in the spaces of the functionalistic Rezidence Flora in Prague - Vinohrady. The exhibition brought the entire building to life for one evening and everybody had the opportunity to see its spaces from the cellar to the rooftop terrace with its impressive view. Some of the residence’s flats were transformed into non-traditional galleries, in which works of art by modern young artists such as Adam Jílek, Tomáš Němec, Pavel Šebek, Helena Sequence and Adam Stanko were shown. The atmosphere of the 1930s, when the residence was built, could also be felt in the exclusively furnished showroom flats, in which treasures of international design from Stockist and Modernista were presented.

The Art&Brick project concept is a reaction to international trends and tries to bring an innovate method of selling property to the Czech Republic. Its intention is to inspire visitors with its artistically-designed interiors, which correspond to the style of the building itself. Visitors were also able to purchase individual flats, works of art or furniture being presented during the event or they could consult with the experts that were present. Last, but not least, it was also a cultural experience with a pleasant atmosphere, a rich accompanying programme and a chance to meet interesting people.

The first exhibition of the Art&Brick project took place in Rezidence Flora, a functionalist corner building from the 1930s. The building, which was designed by architect Jaroslav Vančura, fulfils the demands on modern housing in a stylish building. It is located in the popular Royal Vinohrady district, right at the Flora metro station. Here you will find generously designed, airy and sunny flats with three to four rooms and a terrace or balcony.

Flats with areas of up to 111 m² are available. The residents will appreciate the reception and fitness centre that are located right in the building. The locality offers many opportunities for spending leisure time, including a lot of parks and sports fields. The possibility of parking in the underground garages is another advantage.

Rezidence U Pekaře

Rezidence U Pekaře, a historical building from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, is located in the attractive and popular locality of Prague - Vyšehrad. The building offers an ideal possibility to combine living and working as it contains twelve flats and two commercial spaces. There is also a garden with mature foliage which offers residents a place of quiet and relaxation. The entire building is undergoing extensive reconstruction and the first residents will be able to move in the spring of 2015.

Showroom flat open in Rezidence Oktagon

Though the doors of Rezidence Oktagon will be opening for the first residents in the summer, now you can already visit a showroom flat that was designed by Pražská správa nemovitostí in cooperation with the artists of Prague’s Art Salon S gallery.

Just like the flat, the common spaces of the residence show how it is possible to combine housing with art and design. In the showroom flat you will also find paintings by, among others, the young artist Tomáš Němec, who cooperates with the Art Salon S gallery. The architecturally remarkable building is located in a quiet part of Prague 4, surrounded by nature, which represents an ideal solution for young pairs and families with children thanks to its excellent accessibility.

The history of this interesting building from the 1930s falls under classic Czech modernism and follows the era of cubism and the famous villas under Vyšehrad. The layout of the part of the building that is faithful to its name is in the shape of an octagon. This geometric element is also repeated in the entrance hall of Rezidence Oktagon. It includes a spacious garden with mature trees surrounded by the Branik Cliffs with the remnants of steppe flora and fauna. Rezidence Oktagon offers two- and three-room flats with a total area of up to 107 m². Their abundance of space, air and light is enhanced by the fantastic view and untraditional layout. Selected flats have a terrace on the mezzanine floor. 

There is an abundance of parking spaces for residents right by the building. The unique location is not only enticing for families with children, who appreciate the connection to nature, but also for avid sportsmen. One of Braník’s strengths is the presence of a wide range of cycling paths. Thanks to the Konstruktiva and Hamr sports complexes enthusiasts of tennis, in-line skating and beach volleyball will also come into their own. 

The locality offers uncountable possibilities in the area of culture as well. You can head, for example, to the Branik or Dobeška theatres. The Julie Jurištová Theatre Troupe offers fairy-tale musicals and evening dramas both for children of pre-school and school age as well as for adults. The excellent accessibility to the centre is a definite advantage of Rezidence Oktagon. The Přístaviště bus and tram stops, which are near the building, offer transportation, for example, to the Karlovo náměstí metro stop on line B. There is a pre-school and elementary school in the immediate vicinity as well as a pharmacy, post office, grocery store and restaurant.
